Division Chief of Hematology / Oncology at Doctors Community Hospital
Dr. Rita Gupta is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology. She completed her fellowship in hematology/ oncology at George Washington University Hospital in 1996 and her internal medicine residency at Prince George’s Hospital Center in Maryland in 1993. She began her medical education at the Gandhi Medical College of Bhopal University in Bhopal, India, graduating with her medical doctorate in 1985 and completing her internship and residency in 1988. She has served her patients and the community for 16 years.
Dr. Gupta has a special interest in coagulation and other blood disorders. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and a former Chief of Oncology of Doctors Community Hospital. She currently serves in various capacities at that hospital including member of the Breast Tumor Board, founding member of the General Tumor board and member of the Medical Executive Committee. She has been a member of the Cancer Committee at the hospital since its inception with the goal of advancing the quality of cancer care in the community.
She resides in Virginia and enjoys reading and traveling with her family.
